SMART goals and objectives are an important part of Brightwaters Acupuncture. SMART addresses the most common questions and concerns of the clinician and potential and actual patient before beginning treatment.

• Specific- what exactly does the patient want?

• Measured- what is the current status and what is the desired outcome?

• Assignable- are the roles and responsibilities of the patient and clinician?

• Realistic- are all Specific, Measured and Assignable even possible? If not, then reassess.

• Timed- definitive conclusion to determine if the desired outcome has been achieved.

SMART goals and objectives remove doubt and establishes expectations before treatment begins. The patient retains a copy as a reminder of their responsibilities during the course of treatment. It is applicable in both acupuncture treatment and acupuncture therapy.
